This condo renovation was located in Rockport's historic district with great views of Rockport Harbor and the Atlantic. The homeowner contacted us on recommendation of one of his friends we had done some work for. For this project we handled the design work as well as the millwork, which made for a great project as the homeowner wanted to make sure his project stood out from your standard white kitchen, wanting to blend traditional and contemporary elements to create something unique to him.
We went through multiple design iterations for the kitchen and furniture, experimenting with Japandi style woodwork for the furniture initially before landing on something painted with shaker influence. For the cabinetry we always were going to do paint but the goal was to come up with simple, but unique panel style for the door and drawer fronts. We settled on a subtle raised panel detail that gave the kitchen a modern feel while respecting the historic nature of the home.
